Miller Diversified recently collaborated with WGTE Public Media to create three promotions for Miller Diversified… but these weren’t just any ordinary ads. These promotions were the result of a collaboration between third and fourth generation members of the Miller family: third generation owner Jerry Miller, and fourth generation WGTE voice talent Mary Claire (Miller) Murphy.
WGTE’S New Voice For Miller Diversified: A Fourth Generation Miller
Mary Claire Murphy is best known in the area as an on-air classical music host and content producer, hosting WGTE’s Morning Classics Program. She also has a remarkable podcast called “The Patchwork Suite”, where listeners can hear the stories of composers who are tasked with drawing musical inspiration from a textile of their own choosing. When Jerry Miller had the idea to collaborate with WGTE on a sponsorship, Mary Claire Murphy fielded the first phone call, and kindly agreed to become the voice of Miller Diversified.
Both third and fourth generation internal team members at Miller collaborated on the development of the short sponsorship scripts (crafting concise scripts of 15 seconds or less is more difficult than it sounds!) and Mary Claire was able to lend her voice talent to the collaboration.
“As a part of the Miller family,” said Mary Claire, “I could not be more honored by this opportunity to serve as one voice among many in generations of caring and passionate people with a blaze of entrepreneurial spirit.”
Miller Diversified was founded over 100 years ago in 1920 by the five Miller brothers. Over time, the company was passed down to one of the founding members sons, Norman Miller, who was father to the present ownership, Kurt and Jerry Miller. We believe the first and second generation of Millers would be very proud to see the way that WGTE’s Mary Claire Murphy is bringing joy to the community with her own unique gifts, and using her talents to spread the word about the company, which today, still embraces the core values and work ethic that our founding fathers embodied.
Tune In to WGTE FM91
Tune into WGTE on FM 91 in the Fall of 2024 to hear these spots on NPR, Morning Edition, and All Things Considered. Be sure to also check out The Patchwork Suite or Listen Live at WGTE.org! We’ve also included Mary Claire’s beautiful work below! Thank you to our wonderful friends at WGTE for helping bring this sponsorship to life! As our President & CEO Kurt Miller would say, “It’s great to be able to connect the first generation to the next generation.”
