From there, we grew to become one of the most highly-respected real estate development firms in the area. We’ve diversified, growing into a company that offers commercial property services including commercial construction services, commercial real estate brokerage, property management, development, an investment fund, and more… and we’ll continue to build for the generations to come.
Miller Farm & Greenhouse Incorporates
Henry Miller and his five sons Henry, Louie, Charlie, Frank, and Herman, had been operating a greenhouse for about a decade. Miller Farm & Greenhouse, the company that would eventually be renamed Miller Diversified, was incorporated in 1920.
Weathering The Great Depression
During this era, the company managed to survive the worst economic downturn in the history of the industrialized world. Many of the brothers retired during this time, leaving the company in the charge of the youngest of the brothers, Herman.
A 19-Year Old At The Helm
Herman became gravely ill and was unable to continue managing the greenhouse. His son Norman Miller was graduating high school around this time and Norm began managing the company’s affairs in his father’s stead alongside his cousin.
Our century-long journey as a business holds immense significance. Our age alone is proof of our ability to adapt to evolving market trends, embrace technological advancements, and consistently deliver value to our clients… but beyond this lies something deeper. Our company is rooted in a mission and core values 100+ years in the making. We have stood the test of time because we work hard, and we do everything we can to make sure the commercial property services we offer to our clients and customers are meaningful. To celebrate 100 years, we created a video of our story that shows where this mindset comes from. We are standing on the shoulders of the people that came before us, and for this, we will always be grateful.
Giving back is a passion of ours, and an important part of our family value system. In 2020 for our 100 year anniversary, we committed ourselves to performing 100 acts of kindness. Our entire organization was involved as we gave back to the community that we have been a part of for a century. It was a great way to celebrate a century in business… but just because we are done celebrating our anniversary doesn’t mean we’re done volunteering. In fact, we are always seeking opportunities to give our time and support to people who need it. Want to learn more about engaging with volunteers from Miller Diversified?
