28 May NAWIC Fundraiser for Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity

On May 20th, The National Association of Women in Construction, Toledo (NAWIC) hosted a fundraiser in support of the Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity Women Build home. The goal for the fundraiser was $2,500. “The ticket sales, donations, and auction items got us to almost double our goal!” stated Cassie Kaptur-Easterwood, Project Coordinator for Miller Diversified Construction. The funds raised will go toward the sponsorship of a day of building this home.
The room was full of support for the future homeowner, Tamia Spears, pictured in the center of the above image. To her left is NAWIC member, Michelle Fowls. To her right is Cassie Kaptur-Easterwood. Tamia gave a very moving speech. She stated, in part, “I’m a single mother of 4…Right now, we rent a house, and while it serves as a shelter, it doesn’t feel like home…but even in hard times I’ve held onto hope that I can give my children something better.” To hear Tamia’s entire speech, watch below.
Miller Diversified is proud to partner with Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity on multiple projects. A few members of our team recently spent a day painting and doing a little demo for another Habitat home. In June, we have a team participating in a playhouse build. Our team is building a playhouse for a family who chose a Barbie theme! We’re excited to make this family’s vision a reality!
